Many of you would have noticed by now that the Plaza level 1 labs are no longer there! If you have not found them yet then check them out at Level 1 of the Engineering Maths building. On Level 1 is the Mac Lab used for the new Introduction to Programming course, the Computer Science Learning Centre and two Linux labs that are a standard CATs image but are used primarily for Computer Science Concepts and Specialised Programming.
As part of ECMS, all CS students also have access to all CATs labs within the Faculty, including the 24 hour lab on the ground floor of Innova 21.
In addition to the CSLC, we have also opened up a new Consulting Centre in the foyer space of Level 4, Innova 21. The CSLC provides support for first year students, or students who are learning to program. The Consulting Centre provides support for Level 2 and 3 courses. Both Centres have space where students can work on assignments, either individually or in small groups.
At the moment, it is a temporary space and is screened off from the rest of the foyer, but we will be building a more permanent space shortly. The times when academic staff are available in this consulting space has been posted to the Moodle forums and I encourage you to drop by there if you need a hand with your courses.
