I did want to highlight one paper that I have read from the HERDSA conference, but did not get to attend the presentation of. (Difficult with eight parallel streams – eight!)
The paper, A blind spot in higher education research? A call for the explicit use of qualitative survey validation methods, by Cathryn McCormack, SCU, talks about methods for validating qualitative surveys, covering well the background in survey and questionnaire construction and validation. Definitely one that I will be recommending for our PhD students, as they move from a purely quantitative world to that blend of quantitative and qualitative research.
